The US Seeks Pressure and Imposed Negotiations
WANA (Jan 22) – Iranian Intelligence Minister Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Esmaeil Khatib stated that the United States is intensifying efforts to exert pressure and create conditions for imposed negotiations with Iran.
He said, “The Americans are seriously increasing their pressure tactics, presenting seemingly enticing proposals that involve both threats and temptations. This is an important matter to consider. Throughout the Islamic Revolution, the US has consistently advocated negotiations while acting contrary to its words. Most importantly, we must rely on the power of resistance, the Islamic Revolution, and the guidance of our revered Leader and late Imam. By leaning on Iran’s independence and its resilience against external pressures and injustices, we will continue on this path with determination.”
Khatib emphasized, “With patience and perseverance, we can protect our economy and independence, while maintaining the spirit of sacrifice and resistance to overcome this phase with strength. Conversely, if we succumb to weakness, division, and the allure of negotiations propagated by some, we will lose. The enemy does not seek negotiations for mutual cooperation or a so-called win-win outcome. They aim for American-style negotiations that demand us to abandon our nuclear program, limit our missile capabilities, retreat from the region, forfeit resistance, and make peace with the Israeli regime—ultimately leading to nothing but humiliation and defeat.”
Referring to the nuclear negotiations, Khatib remarked, “The Americans signed agreements in the JCPOA but failed to honor them. Therefore, our only path to success is to continue the policy and strategy of resistance. We must maintain a transnational outlook in terms of security, defense capabilities, and military deterrence. Although conditions may change, we must adopt innovative approaches to meet new challenges.”
The Intelligence Minister further stressed, “Self-reliance, rooted in revolutionary beliefs and strategic depth in the region, along with active diplomacy and stronger regional ties, can shape an effective roadmap for countering the arrogant and oppressive policies of the US and the Israeli regime in the region.”
Highlighting the strength of Iran’s military, he added, “The Iranian Armed Forces must continue demonstrating their capabilities in exercises and international waters with full power. Intelligent and creative resistance will preserve our deterrent power. Effective management of small-scale operational and cost-efficient measures can ensure our deterrence and showcase it to the world. Greater military presence and activity along borders, in the region, and international waters will undoubtedly bolster our security and enhance our impactful defensive capabilities.”
Khatib concluded, “Increasing reliance on the people and domestic capacities, along with the localization of advanced technologies and knowledge, are the fundamental pillars of our resistance. These will remain the foundation of Iran’s strength and resilience against the US and its allies.”
